Porto Romano Beach Clean-Up
Our students spent the day at Porto Romano cleaning the beach. They picked up over 20 bags of trash and debris from the beach! After spending the morning cleaning the beach, the students ate a delicious meal prepared by the staff and some of AIS parent volunteers. Some students even took the opportunity at Porto Romano for a brief (and cold) swim in the sea.
AIS and Fundjave Ndryshe
On Friday, June 9th AIS Students and staff collaborated with the “Fundjave Ndryshe” charity to help families in need. For the past month students, parents, and staff gathered food, clothing, and other school materials to donate to this worthwhile cause. AIS donations directly helped two (2) families in need and living in extreme poverty. One of the families had seven (7) children and the father, despite his best efforts, could only find intermittent daily work. You could see the happiness in the eyes of the family when they saw the much-needed donations from our students and parents. The second family was also very appreciative also as they had a child with disabilities and finding adequate work was difficult for this family also. Our students were moved by the experience and it was good for them to be exposed to the harsh realities some people live with every day. We look forward to working with Fundjave Ndryshe again in the future.
Local Sports Field Clean-Up
Here, our students spent their Saturday morning cleaning up trash from a local sports field. All the students there were volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to help beautify Tirana! All of Tirana should all be proud of our student’s hard work. Our AIS students don’t just merely talk about the environment, but set the example for all other local schools to follow by actually doing something to help the environment. Well Done AIS staff and students!
One of our AIS Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLR) is that our students Serve the Community by helping those who can give nothing in return. Our kids have really taken this message to heart. AIS students have partnered with Fundjave Ndryshe and the Foodbank of Albania to hold food drives, donate clothing and household goods, and accept monetary gifts to help those in Albania not as fortunate as us. All our students should be highly commended for their heartwarming and selfless acts of assistance for people in desperate need of help.
